NASA has selected a contractor team led by aerospace industry giant Lockheed Martin to build Orion lunar spacecraft. The Orion, if plans go to fruition, will carry four astronauts to the Moon sometime between the years 2015 and 2018. The Orion spacecraft will be the first to carry human explorers beyond low Earth orbit in more than forty years.Lockheed Martin Orion design represents a kind of back to the future approach to spaceflight. Instead of being a winged airplane-like vehicle like the space shuttle, the Orion is designed as a capsule like the Apollo spacecraft that took men to the moon again in late 1960 and early 1970 . NASA Administrator has come to call Orion "Apollo on steroids." Of course, the likeness of Apollo Orion is really surface. Orion will not be the same vehicle that a modern airplane Apollo 777 is the same vehicle as a 1970 version of the Boeing 747 airliner.Like Apollo space capsule, the Orion is composed of two parts, the crew module, which equivalent to the Apollo command module and service module. The Orion crew module superficially resemble those of the Apollo command module. The Orion service module, however, will be shorter and tapered at the end, rather than the cylindrical shape of Apollo module. As service currently envisioned, the Orion crew module will be inside the technology that was dreamed by the designers of the Apollo command module. Apollo flew to the moon around the same amount of computing power of a modern digital watch. The avionics module Orion crew to include not only "cockpit" digital control systems currently used by the space shuttle, but also "smart cockpit" technologies have been developed for modern aircraft. While the Apollo command module was designed to land in the ocean, so it requires a fleet of large and expensive recovery, the Orion crew module will have a combination of parachutes and airbags that allows land the ground. The Orion crew module will be built of friction agitation of aluminum-lithium, a composite material lighter and stronger than those that Apollo was built. The crew module will also be protected from micrometeoroids and space debris damage Nextel and Kevlar blankets. A removable heat shield is currently the baseline as phenolic impregnated carbon ablator. Much of the rest of the crew module will be reusable, although the amount has not been determined. The Orion crew module will have a diameter of 16.5 meters and a mass of about 25 tons. It will have a total pressure of 691.8 cubic feet, of which 361 cubic feet is habitable. It will carry six astronauts, although only four will travel to the moon aboard the Orion. There is a huge improvement over other of Apollo. The Orion will have a modern waste disposal (ie, toilet), as currently used aboard the International Space Station and Orion Soyuz. The Russian service module will also be constructed of aluminum-lithium. It will be two drop-down, circular-shaped solar panels to provide power for the vehicle, eliminating the need for hydrogen fuel cells used in the Apollo spacecraft. The Orion service module will have a modified space shuttle orbital maneuvering system engine as its main rocket engine. The engine will be capable of 7500 pounds of thrust. The service module also contain hypergolic propellant tanks that the engine will use oxygen, radiators, and related to Orion hardware. The be equipped with an exhaust system of solid rocket motor that allows you to leave his launch vehicle in an emergency. The Orion is designed to be placed in orbit for a planned launch vehicle, the Ares 1, also in development. Officially, the first crew is scheduled to launch Orion into low Earth orbit in September 2014. Some observers have noted that this would create a "gap" in America's ability to launch people into space since the last space shuttle mission scheduled for launch in 2010. In addition, NASA recently selected two commercial companies, in commercial systems Orbital Transportation (COTS) program to develop vehicles to send people and cargo to the International Space Station by the fact that 2010.The initial version of the Orion could also carry people and supplies to the ISS has caused some controversy. We are a government-funded competition to commercial vehicles are being developed in COTS? Others argue that NASA needs to Orion as a "backup" of the vehicle, in the case of COTS vehicles do not materialize. In any case, the Orion missions to low Earth orbit will be needed to test their systems before a trip to the moon is attempted.

Middle School American Football Position Suggestions Running will increase performance

Go over the plays in your mind, over and over again. Make your mind work them out and your muscles memorize them even when you sleep

Running with the Ball: The Gauntlet Drill

Ball security, preventing fumbles and turnovers is perhaps the most important skill the offensive team can have. This is especially true for a running back or wide receiver as they will carry the ball more often than others on the field, but it is a good idea for all positions to practice a little ball security. A great drill called the gauntlet practices ball security. The point to the gauntlet drill is to have a player run through several opponents that try to dislodge the football. The opponents can line up in any scenario, the most common being two lines and the ball carrier must run through them. To be effective with this drill have the ball carrier run the drill holding the ball in several different positions.
